Laurence G Hanscome Field KBED

Bedford - Hanscom Field
Location: Only 20 miles from Boston, Hanscom is bounded by Lexington, Concord, Lincoln, and Bedford, towns noted for their proud pasts and progressive outlooks, as well as by one of the finest open spaces in the Commonwealth, Minute Man National Historic Park. Hanscom is also served by Route 95/128, home of many Massachusetts' established and start-up high tech operations, and is minutes from downtown Boston's medical, financial, cultural, and recreational resources. In fact, businesses often cite Hanscom's location as a factor that initially attracted them to the area and one of the reasons they are able to prosper.
Facilities: The field's primary runway, Runway 11/29, is 7000 feet long and 150 feet wide with full ILS/DME instrumentation for all weather operation. Massport maintains Hanscom's runways, taxiways, safety areas, lighting, and drainage systems to guarantee year-round utility and safety. Vegetation control includes systematic cutting along runway approaches and transition surfaces to insure compliance with FAA certification requirements. In addition, the National Weather Service has selected Hanscom as a site for 24-hour, automated surface weather observation system to enhance aviation safety and contribute to inproved weather forecasts. Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting is provided by contract with the USAF Fire Department, located on the flight line.
Services: Hanscom Field is serviced by a number of Fixed Bases Operators who provide a full range of aviation related needs. Jet and 100LL fuels are readily available, free parking is an attractive feature for airline customers, and there is also an Aero Technical school on the airport. Rental cars are plentiful, flight instruction is available, and Hanscom even provides a safeguarded habitat for many endangered species. For more information visit:
